Blackfell (Now a mix of Blackfell and Mayfield (New Houses)) is a village located in the North of Washington (NE37). Construction of the village started in the early 1960s and started with the pre-fabricated maisonettes to the East of the village (these have now been replaced with new-build homes in Bink Moss, Thirlmoor etc). The village was constructed close to the old Blackfell Army Camp (which no longer exists).

In the 1990's much of Blackfell was pulled down and new houses built in their place, these houses are now in the centre of Mayfield such as Shunner, Penyghent Way, Swarth Close, Dodfell and many others.

Mayfield is right inbetween the A182, A1231 and the A194. which makes for excellent commuting.
